We would like to thank PPG and their volunteers for giving the community centre a makeover, which has enabled us to improve the services we provide to our community. Also, a huge shout out to David Risebury, Project Manager, PPG Aerospace, for leading the project and making it happen, he was a pleasure to work with!
An opening event was held on Thursday 30 November 2023 with staff, trustees, volunteers, our stakeholders, PPG employees from Aerospace Shildon attending, including Michael Wainwright, the new Shildon Site Manager.
Councillor Shirley Quinn, Mayor of Shildon, personally thanked everyone for their commitment to the project – “The centre is a vital part of the community in Shildon, offering a place for people of all ages and backgrounds to meet and socialize. Following Covid, there is a great need for interaction and people being comfortable in coming together to socialize. The centre has been used and maintained well but was in desperate need of decorating and a general facelift. With PPG’s commitment, we can achieve this to improve services to the wider community.”
The colour scheme for the centre was created by PPG colour specialists and it follows colour psychology principles. The overall theme was designed to use colours that are suitable for everyone who uses the facility, from the younger generation to the older generation.
“At PPG, we believe in the power of colour to enhance the places where we live, work and play,” said James Frean, PPG Business Director, Northern Europe, Aerospace who endorsed the project. “We are proud to partner with the Jubilee Fields Community Centre and support its mission of serving the community with a variety of programs and opportunities. We hope that our colourful contribution will make a positive difference for the centre and its users.”
