 We are a group of dedicated individuals who have come together to make a difference in our local community. We have a wide variety of programs and services that we offer including  job training, career coaching, women’s/men’s groups, parent/carer & toddler groups, mental health programs, fitness classes, slimming world, children’s holiday clubs and much much more!

Lesley Bowes

Centre Development Co-Ordinator

Lesley oversees the centre’s growth, identifying funding and strengthening community partnerships to ensure sustainability. She joined us in 2023 following a 33-year career in the Civil Service. Lesley applies her extensive expertise in operational delivery and stakeholder management to build positive relationships, securing the vital resources needed for Jubilee Fields to continue thriving as a welcoming hub.

Volunteer Co-Ordinator/Support Worker

A local resident and long-standing supporter, Lindsey manages volunteer recruitment and training while providing essential administrative support. She delivers the Luncheon Club, and leads on our children’s after-school sessions. A qualified Teaching Assistant with a Diploma in Sports Performance, she brings immense creativity and experience to her role, ensuring our community members and children receive the very best support.

Caroline is a local resident with extensive experience in the voluntary sector. She leads several of our most valued activities, including our Monday Family Hub, Ladies and Men’s Groups and our Luncheon Club. She is passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces for socialising and learning, ensuring the centre consistently meets the diverse needs of people across all age groups.

Community Support Worker

Jade is a local resident who brings incredible energy and enthusiasm to our team. She delivers the Wednesday Breakfast Club and while also supporting our various children’s after-school activities. Known for her lively nature and love of Halloween, Jade ensures that every session she leads is engaging, fun, and full of spirit.

Andrea works as a cleaner both with us and at Aldi, and everyone who meets her quickly discovers her bubbly nature and infectious laugh. Andrea keeps our building spotless, welcoming and ready for the community, and she does it all with a smile that brightens the place as much as her hard work.

Chair of Trustees

Claire is a Senior Public Protection Officer for Durham County Council, bringing professional expertise in community safety and operational management to the Board. She applies her background in wellbeing and strategic planning to support the centre’s long-term goals. Outside of her career, Claire enjoys hiking, travel and music, bringing that same dedication and passion to her community work.

Hannah Hanratty

Hannah has lived on the Jubilee Estate her whole life and grew up using the centre’s facilities from a young age. Now a Team Leader for Student Loans, she brings strong organisational skills, clear communication and a practical, steady approach to her role as a trustee. Hannah is passionate about keeping the centre a vibrant, welcoming hub and is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for children, young people and families across the community.

Judith brings her professional accounting background to the centre, providing clear financial oversight and strong organisational skills. She is also an award‑winning Slimming World Consultant, combining precision with a caring, motivational approach. Judith’s mix of expertise and community spirit makes her a valued trustee, helping the centre and its users thrive.

Shirley Quinn

Shirley has lived on the Jubilee Estate for over 50 years and serves as an elected Town Councillor. She is deeply committed to improving living standards in Shildon and the Dene Valley. Shirley regularly attends our Monday Ladies’ Group and frequently volunteers her time in the centre kitchen, supporting local events and activities with great pride and care.

Kelly Vasey

Trustee

Kelly is an experienced accountant and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She also holds a degree in Leadership and Management, bringing strong financial insight and a steady, organised approach to her role as a trustee. Kelly uses her skills in cash‑flow forecasting and process improvement to help ensure the centre remains financially efficient, well‑managed and focused on supporting the community.

Nathan Hanratty

Nathan serves as a Town Councillor and is the Chairman of Bitchburn Football Club. Drawing on his experience in local retail and a lifelong understanding of community centres, he provides valuable leadership to our initiatives. Originally from Howden-le-Wear, Nathan contributes his time and experience to support and strengthen the positive impact Jubilee Fields has on the local area.

Neil Cleasby

Trustee

A retired site manager for T Manners and long-term Scout Leader, Neil brings leadership skills and practical knowledge to the centre. He is a dedicated community member who runs the “Blind Creationz” project, crafting items from reclaimed wood to support local causes. Neil’s commitment to giving back and his extensive experience in voluntary work make him a vital pillar of our team.

Volunteers

Cathy and Harry have been involved since the very beginning, helping campaign for a purpose-built centre over 20 years ago. They remain vital members of the team, running our Thursday Community Bingo nights and assisting at various events. Their long-term commitment and strong community spirit continue to make them a cherished part of the Jubilee Fields family.
