We have a wide variety of programs and services that we offer including job training, career coaching, women’s/men’s groups, parent/carer & toddler groups, mental health programs, fitness classes, slimming world, children’s holiday clubs and much much more!

Lesley Bowes
Centre Development Co-Ordinator
As our Centre Development Co-ordinator, Lesley works closely with staff, volunteers, funders, and the local community to support the successful running and growth of the centre. Her role includes identifying funding opportunities, developing projects, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring the centre remains a welcoming and sustainable hub for local people. Lesley took early retirement from the Civil Service in May 2023 after over 33 years working across various government departments. She brings extensive expertise in operational delivery, stakeholder management, communications, and customer service, which she now applies to building positive relationships, securing resources, and helping Jubilee Fields continue to thrive.

Lindsey Denham
Volunteer Co-Ordinator/Community Support Worker
Lindsey is a local resident and long-standing supporter of Jubilee Fields Community Centre. As well as being a staff member, she is a regular user of the centre, with all of her children having attended our groups over the years. She provides essential admin support, delivers our children’s after-school sessions, Wednesday breakfast club, and Friday luncheon club, and is also responsible for recruiting, training, and managing our volunteers. She is a qualified Level 2 Teaching Assistant and holds a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Performance and Excellence, bringing both creativity and experience to her role in the community.

Caroline Dunn
Community Support Worker
Caroline is a local Shildon resident who has spent the past ten years working within the community and voluntary sector. She is passionate about supporting people of all ages and is thrilled to be part of the Jubilee Fields Community Association team. At the centre, Caroline leads on some of our most valued activities, including the pre-school playgroup and both the ladies’ and men’s clubs. She plays an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where people can learn, socialise, and build friendships. Caroline’s commitment and experience make her a key part of ensuring the centre continues to meet the needs of the community.

Jenna Roe
Community Support Worker
Jenna is a local resident and an active part of the Jubilee Fields Community Centre, both as a staff member and as a parent whose children attend activities at the centre. She provides vital admin support and takes the lead on delivering our children’s activities, creating a safe and welcoming space for young people to learn, play, and grow. As a qualified nursery nurse, Jenna brings valuable skills and experience in working with children and families to her role. She also represents the centre at local SCYPAN meetings, helping to strengthen links and share good practice across the community.

Izzy Kilty
Community Support Worker
Izzy is the youngest member of our team at 17! She is currently studying at college with the goal of joining the uniformed services and is also an active cadet. Izzy plays an important role in supporting our children’s after-school club and Friday luncheon club, helping to ensure activities run smoothly and participants are well looked after.

Jade Kemp
Community Support Worker
Jade is a local resident whose children attend activities at the community centre. She delivers our Breakfast Club on Wednesdays and Luncheon Club on Fridays, and also supports our children’s after-school club. Jade brings energy, and enthusiasm, to everything she does. Her love of Halloween, and lively nature, always adds a fun and engaging element to the sessions.

Hannah Hanratty
Chair of Trustees
Hannah has lived on the Jubilee Estate her whole life and has fond memories of attending many clubs and events at the community centre as a child. These experiences inspired her passion for making the centre a vibrant hub for the local community. Hannah currently works in operational delivery for student loans, bringing strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a practical approach to her role at the centre. She is committed to creating opportunities for children and families to enjoy and benefit from the activities and services on offer.

Claire Storey
Vice Chair
Claire is a Senior Public Protection Officer for Durham County Council, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the Trust Board. Her professional background gives her a strong understanding of community safety, wellbeing, and operational management, which she applies to support the centre’s work and strategic planning. Outside of work, Claire enjoys music and holidays, and she brings the same passion and dedication to her involvement with the centre as she does to her professional career.

Judith Box
Treasurer
Judith has a background in accounting, bringing strong organisational and financial skills to her role. In addition, she is an award-winning Slimming World Consultant, demonstrating her dedication to helping others achieve their personal goals. Judith’s combination of professional expertise and passion for supporting people makes her a valued member of the team, contributing both practical skills and a caring, motivational approach to the work of the centre.

Shirley Quinn
Trustee
Shirley has lived on the Jubilee Estate for over 50 years and takes great pride in the town she calls home. As an elected Town Councillor, she works closely with local stakeholders to improve standards of living in Shildon and the Dene Valley. Shirley enjoys attending our ladies’ group on Mondays and regularly volunteers her time in the community centre kitchen, supporting events and activities with dedication and care.

Nathan Hanratty
Trustee
Nathan is originally from Howden-le-Wear and grew up seeing the positive impact a community centre can have, as his mother was the caretaker of Howden Community Centre. He brings this understanding and passion for community to his work today. Nathan works in local retail, serves as a Town Councillor, and is Chairman of Bitchburn Football Club, contributing his time, experience, and leadership to support and strengthen local initiatives.

David Stuart Franklin
Trustee
David has extensive experience in recruitment and supporting pathways to work, including helping people with CV writing and job applications. In addition to his professional experience, he runs his own web design company, bringing a broad range of expertise in both business and digital solutions. David contributes valuable insight and practical knowledge to the Trust Board, helping to guide the organisation and support its work in the community.

Neil Cleasby
Trustee
Neil is a retired site manager for T. Manners & Son and has many years of experience as a Scout Leader. He brings a wealth of practical knowledge, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community to the centre. In addition to his professional and voluntary work, Neil pursues his hobby of creating items from reclaimed wood through his project, Blind Creationz, and generously donates the proceeds to St John’s Church, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to giving back to the community.

Kelly Vasey
Trustee
Kelly is an experienced Financial Controller with a strong background in the construction and oil and gas industries. She is skilled in improving processes, driving efficiencies, managing year-end close, revenue recognition, and cash flow forecasting. A local resident, Kelly holds a Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management from Sunderland University and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Cathy & Harry March
Volunteers
Cathy and Harry have been involved with the community centre from the very beginning. They played a key role in the campaign to establish a purpose-built centre on the Jubilee Estate and, more than 20 years later, remain vital members of our team and valued volunteers. The duo run our Community Bingo on Thursday nights and are always ready to lend a hand at events, bringing experience, commitment, and a strong sense of community spirit to everything they do.

Christine Richardson
Volunteer
Christine is one of our most dedicated volunteers. A retired cook, she previously ran the kitchen in a nursing home and now brings her skills and passion to our community centre. Christine can often be found in the kitchen, whipping up delicious treats for our sessions and events, always adding a touch of warmth and care to everything she does.

Belinda Boam
Volunteer
Belinda is a happily retired nurse with additional training in adult mental health and many years of experience working with drug and alcohol clients in the community. She has been instrumental in setting up our Friday Craft Club, which has become a great success. Belinda enjoys walking outdoors—preferably in the sunshine—with her little dog, Lottie, as well as meeting friends, going to the cinema or theatre, and dining out. Her dedication, creativity, and community spirit make her a valued member of our team.

Ann Barker
Volunteer
Ann is a local resident who joined our volunteer team in June 2023. Before retiring, she worked as a production planner and a claims negotiator, bringing strong organisational and problem-solving skills to her role. Ann also has a passion for animals and used to breed and show Welsh Mountain ponies at county level, demonstrating her dedication, patience, and attention to detail.

Tim Hillary
Volunteer/Handy Man
Tim is a veteran and a dedicated member of our community, serving as a Town Councillor. At the centre, he is our handyman, and always ready to lend a helping hand. Tim also enjoys supporting the kitchen, helping to prepare and serve meals for our sessions and events. His commitment, practical skills, and friendly, approachable nature make him an invaluable part of the team
